During reading time, while Mrs Muir works with our guided reading groups we...

In reading we have been working on our individual reading goals. Some groups have been working on prediction, some on vocabulary knowledge, and some on inference. We have also been looking at spelling patterns, and finding similes and metaphors in the books we read. We have also read heaps of stories about people who show good examples of our class values.

Complete our hands on spelling activities.
Read to each other.
Listen to stories.
Complete fun tasks that help us with the reading goals that we are working on.
Have fun with words, and use the I-pads to help us with our activities.
Enjoy being read to.

Team Work Value

We decided we wanted to practice our Team Work Value. Someone suggested a raft making competition, so that is what we did! We came up with a criteria to work by that helped us work as a successful team. Check out our video!

Our Class Values

Over the last 4 weeks we have spent the time looking at what our values are as a class.

A value is what we think is important.

In groups we brainstormed what we thought was important, then we picked the most important ones as a class.

We then unpacked them and discovered what each value actually means, looks like, and sounds like.

We've created posters that show examples of this, and we have worked in groups to decide which of the school puzzle pieces match up with each value.

OUR VALUES:

Respect

Team Work

Helping Others

Being Kind

Making goals

Positive Attitudes

Making the Right Choice

Never Give Up

Honesty

Responsibility
